Thick Consolidator

Thick Consolidator:

One of four models of electronic bill presentment and payment (EBPP). The biller sends all of its billing data to a central service provider that consolidates electronic bills from different billers so that the consumer has a single site of access for viewing billing information and making payments electronically. Other models include: Biller Direct, Thin Consolidator and Customer Consolidation.

Terminated Merchant File (TMF)

Terminated Merchant File (TMF):

A file listing the names of merchants and their principals whose bankcard relationships have been terminated for some reason by an acquirer. Operated jointly by VISA and MasterCard.

Terminal Record:

The detailed listing maintained by the Acquirer Member or Acquirer Processor that contains the original or duplicate records of all transactions approved, denied, completed, or not completed at a terminal.

Telephone Bill Payment:

A service that permits a customer to pay bills electronically. The customer gives a corporation the authority to debit his or her account for a specific amount or within a specified range of amounts.

Tamper Resistant Security Module (TRSM)

Tamper Resistant Security Module (TRSM):

A hardware device which cannot be successfully penetrated to disclose all or part of any cryptographic key or PIN resident within the device. Penetration of the device shall cause the automatic and immediate erasure of all PINs, cryptographic keys, and all useful residue of PINs and keys contained within the device. A device shall only be operated as a Tamper Resistant Security Module when the manufacturer ensures that the device conforms to industry standards for a Tamper Resistant Security Module and the internal operation has not been modified to allow penetration. There are two categories of TRSMs, (i) a device which relies on physical barriers and (ii) a device which uses “unique key per transaction” key management.
